One of the best things about aHawaiian luau is all the good food – especially the roasted pig. Three ingredients is all it takes!
This slow cooker kahlua pork recipe isa great meal to feed a crowd. Keep thingssimple and serve the pork with a short-grained rice. I use my rice cooker to make sticky Calrose rice, and it turns out perfect every time. It also keeps the rice warm until ready to serve.
Kahlua pork is also delicious served BBQ sandwich-style on a bun. Other ways I like to serve kahlua pork is on top of a green salad, on tacos, and with sweet potatoes. My kids like for me to make mini kahlua pork sandwiches with the King’s Hawaiian Rolls. There are so many ways to eat kahlua, even the leftovers never get boring.
Slow cooker kahlua pork is so tender and easily shreds with a fork.

Ingredients
- 6 lbs Pork Shoulder Roast (Pork Butt Roast)
- 1 Tablespoon Liquid Smoke Flavoring
- 1.5 Tablespoons Sea Salt *Can Use Red Hawaiian Salt
Servings: people
Instructions
Use a knife or carving fork to pierce the pork roast all over.
Rub salt and liquid smoke flavoring all over the pork roast. Tip: If you are unsure about how much salt to add, start out with less. You can always add more salt if it is needed once the pork is cooked.
Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours. Drain juices and set aside. Use two forks to shred the cooked meat. Add back a small amount of the drained juices to moisten the pork if necessary.
Don’t be surprised when your Pork Shoulder shrinks a lot during the cooking process!

RELATED TIPS:
If you live near a specialty grocery store like Trader Joe’s or World Market, you may be able to findred Hawaiian Salt to substitute for the Sea Salt in this recipe. I think regular Sea Salt works just fine, but using Hawaiian Saltwill give this an even more authentic flavor. You can alsoorder Hawaiian Salt on Amazon.
If you like cabbage, toss a couple cupsof shredded cabbage into the slow cooker during the last two hoursof cooking. I love Kahlua Pork with Cabbage mixed in, but my kids eat it better without cabbage.
