Dec 19, 2020 xVoretex Recommended 10/10, total masterpiece. I've been a donghua fan for quite a while, going around a good bunch of them, be it CGI or not, I enjoy them quite thoroughly. Mortal's Journey is a Chinese wuxia donghua that follows Han Li, a child of a poor village family who sacrifices himself to enter the seven mysterious sect in order to improve his family's living situation. Our MC goes forth into a sect and to his enemies he demonstrates he can quickly rise in fighting skills and becoming the next master of elixir. Halfway in the donghua, he sets out higher and goes to a higher sect to cultivate to be an immortal, there are stronger people who fight in magic, Behind him is his shishu (senior) who was there even when others try to snub him. 2nd best character. I decided at some point in some day of some month of some year to diversify my repertoire and see what people from the country of Winnie the Pooh can create. Especially as I have not had much exposure to Chinese pop culture in my life, at least not to the same extent as Japanese pop culture. Here, of course, we are not counting creations i.e. the poor remake of Mulan from Disney or the concentration camps for Uighurs. Jul 8, 2024 asteldian Not Recommended Preliminary (10/17 eps) I agree with ST63LTH's summary. The biggest flaw with this show is the characters, I dropped the show 10 episodes in, not because the story was terrible (though it was not particularly gripping), but because the MC in particular was so incredibly bland - 10 episodes in and I still just didn't care about his journey, he is a non entity which means even if the plot was amazing, it is difficult to be interested. Feb 29, 2024 HouseOfCards Recommended This is a Chinese animation (donghua) so some people might be hesitant but it's really good. I would recommend it if you are into adventure stories with low-key smart MC's that aren't OP that don't constantly have crazy fight scenes. I got started with Tales of Demons and Gods, and watched a few others, but this is probably one of the best ones out there. This is a typical cultivation story with the MC starting out weak in ancient times and progressively getting stronger, but the story always has a degree of realism.
