This excellent example of a 1986 Alpine White Porsche 944 Turbo (951/952) has the classic, 2.5 L M44/51 turbocharged inline-four engine with manual 5 speed transmission (VIN# WP0AA0953GN152772). The vehicle was originally purchased in Massachusetts per the Carfax Report (included). Over the years there have been several owners reported including in 1989 (new vehicle - MA), 2011 (NY), 2014 (FL) and myself in 2015 (MD). On purchasing the vehicle in 2015, I received some of the service records as part of the purchase, which I have summarized below as well as including the photographs of all of the pages of those documents.
The service records that I have go back as far as 2008. These initial records show engine removal and rebuild at 68000 miles on the odometer. Highlights of this work include replacement of the crankshaft and rods, clutch assembly and most of the belts and hoses. The full list of items replaced is shown in the document. There are then two other service records included from 2010 for Advance Auto Center (MA) that addressed ball joint and control arm issues. The next records were from AutoHaus in Saratoga, NY, at a mileage of 84,865. The service covered a cracked exhaust tip, cracked belts, deteriorated sway bar bushings, and both the throttle body was replaced as well as all 4 tires. After I purchased the vehicle, I had a service performed at Deutsch American Trading (Ijamsville, MD), at 85,816 miles where I had the oil and oil filter changed as well as the windshield washer pump
Under my ownership, I really have not driven the vehicle that much, and it has been stored in my garage except for the occasional drive. I occasionally drove the vehicle while the vehicle was stored in Maryland in my own garage until 2019 when I had the vehicle thoroughly assessed for roadworthiness and engine quality before upgrading some of the vehicle components (exhaust, turbo, brakes, engine seal, belts etc.). A list of the new parts is provided below, with the work in this case completed by Ralphs Auto Service Inc. who were then located in Reisterstown, MD. Work and replacement of parts was performed in the following areas: power steering, wheel alignment, Porsche Classic Radio installation, water pump, turbo charger, rod bearings and oil pan gasket, the exhaust, the tires and brakes and an oil change. The full invoice can be provided upon request and some of the work is detailed on the Carfax report. I retained some of the original parts that were worthy of keeping that can be provided as part of the sale, and this includes the exhaust.
Almost immediately after completion of the work was the COVID-19, the vehicle was once again stored in my garage until 2023 when I have reluctantly decided to sell. My reasons for sale are due to a personal illness and just no time to drive the vehicle. Once I made that decision, I had the vehicle serviced one more time at Eurotech Classics in Thurmont, Maryland (85,841 miles). They checked sunroof function, made parking brake adjustments, recharged the AC system (blows cold), tightened loose belts, replaced the wiper blades, replaced the rear hatch keylock gasket which was degraded risking a water leak, and installed a brand new battery (and in doing so also cleaned out the battery box to minimize the chances of rust in the future). They also cleaned the engine bay, inside door jambs and hatch. They also replaced the following parts: brake pad sensor, front brake pads, front brake pad rotor, rear brake pads, rear brake rotors, and brake fluid.
The following items came with the vehicle when purchased and will be included in this sale:
Blaupunkt Monterey SQR-23 radio cassette and Manual – not installed or tested
Blaupunkt BEA-80 graphic equalizer – not installed or tested
A new set of carpets
A new set of seat covers
I also purchased a set of Turbo SII High/Low LED Headlights CXD-M75-C Headlight Assemblies – these are new in the box and again will be included in this sale.
My focus while I have owned the vehicle is to ensure the quality of the engine. I have not at all focused on the body work or the car interior (other than the modern Porsche radio). The engine is really in great condition, and with the new parts the car is ready to be driven like god intended. The pop-up headlights work well, as does the sunroof. The seats are not in the best condition but they are not bad, and you will have new covers. The gear box and clutch are a marvel, and the air conditioning works well. There is a small crack in the top of the dashboard which was there when I purchased the vehicle and I have prevented further cracking using a dash cover since the day that I bought it when parked outside. You can see that the exterior is not perfect especially where the plastic film is located behind each wheel arch. At some point someone deleted the rear hatch wiper (who knows why) and the thermometer in the dash does not work. When I purchased the vehicle the turbo boost gauge did not work but that is now in full operation. The car has been stored for a while since I purchased it so yes there are minor flat spots in the tires, but I have not really encountered much vibration at normal highway speeds.
